Edith takes her first fall…

Edith… well, she is the new bike I bought about a month ago. This past Thursday was the first day I took her out for a ride. The Monon Trail runs throughout the city and north into the suburbs… It’s too pretty to NOT get out to at least walk on it (I think the Monon was originally a railroad line… but I could be wrong). Anyway, I packed my bike up and drove to a parking lot on the trail. I got my helmet on and started riding… It was great… 12 years since my last bike ride… I even saw a deer grazing at one point…

Well, on the way back… UGH.. ANYTHING BUT GOOD. I took this little trail that veered off from the Monon.. there was a little bridge and as I was crossing it I realized that it was a little more steep on the way down… I was picking up too much speed.. I got nervous and lost my balance and crashed into a bunch of bushes.. I ended up getting my foot stuck in my spokes of my front wheel. I ripped my pants down the whole front of one leg. I seemed to have mud everywhere.

Thankfully, two older guys stopped and saw that I needed some help. My front wheel was bent and therefore wouldn’t spin because it kept getting caught on the brakes. They removed the front brakes so at least I could ride it back to my car (5 miles away). That was great.. Well, they solved the first problem.. they couldn’t solve the 2nd… I don’t know how to shift. At. ALL. I was going over a bridge and it got really hard to pedal up the bridge… I knew I needed to shift, so, I turned the handles and apparently did it wrong because the chain came off the gears.

Long story short… I ended up walking my bike the final 3 miles back to my car.

The good thing about this story… I wasn’t seriously hurt.. the pants were old (I bought a new pair today) ..and the bike is getting fixed.

The best thing about this story is that I got to see Scott again. He is the guy who sold me my bike. I am so in love with my bike guy. SOOO in love with my bike guy… I get to see him again tomorrow to pick up my bike… yippy.**

**granted he doesn’t even know I’m alive except for the fact that he sold me a bike… but, he is soo dreamy.**

Nothing else too exciting to report except these random things.

1. Sox rocked the National League this week…granted they played crappy National League teams… but still.. they won against the hottest pitcher in baseball right now.

2. Saw Toy Story 3… Pixar does it again. I love how they take kid movies and some how have deep adult themes in them… Cried at the end. See it.

3. Going to Columbus, Ohio next week. Staying in a hotel. Exciting. :)

4. Nothing else.

The Cupcakes are all mine…

Tonight I hosted our Bible study group from church. We rotate locations and this was my 2nd week hosting. Today was a crazy day… I worked Mon & Tue evenings… I got home this morning, slept up until about 1pm and then frantically tried to clean (and if you have SEEN mine place in ANY city that I’ve lived… it’s pretty much the same description.. messy) & then went out to get snacks for tonight.

Blah, blah, blah…

We’ll just skip to the part where I made a batch of cupcakes… they turned out great… White cake w/ cherry chocolate chips, white fluffy frosting, and red sprinkles… YUM. (ok… they AREN’T as good as the ones at Flying Monkey in Philly …but I have a new best place… Society Bakery in Dallas..but I digress).

Blah, Blah, Blah…

After group I got a call from Steve… the guy I went out with on Friday night… We talked for over an hour before he said that he just wanted to be upfront with me and tell me that he didn’t see a dating relationship in our future… he said that he KNEW that I felt the same way… but, of course, he said “he wasn’t going to drop off the face of the world and he still wanted to be friends…” (aka.. the universal sentence of telling someone that you’ll never see them again).

Tonight I feel rejected.

Tomorrow I’ll be fine.

I think I’ll go have another cupcake.

Or two.

Or three..

No, probably most definitely only two.

All I ask…

Why can’t I find a decent hair salon in Indianapolis??????????????????????

UGH.

UGH.

UGH.

UGH.

That’s it.

Some thoughts before I leave for work…

Happy June 14th.. aka “Flag Day”… I’m not sure what exactly happened on Flag Day… I guess I should after living in the historical center of America for almost 10 years…

Here is my stuff for the day…

1. I had a date on Friday night (June 11) with a guy I met from Eharmony. There will not be a 2nd one. Which is ok with me… He was 41, but a very old 41. I thought we had a decent time but he never really gave his opinion about anything during the whole night. We went for Mexican, then I suggested Ice Cream at this stand that has been around forever.. finally we went to a park for a walk… Well, it was funny because I walk really fast… even when I think I’m walking slow… I’m walking fast… He never said anything until I said that we had done about 3 laps around the park… At that point he was like “wow.. you walk really fast and almost couldn’t keep up… (he was joking, I think… this is a guy who runs 1/2 marathons all the time). When we got back to our cars I said all the proper things.. He didn’t say anything… just got into his car and didn’t look back. I took that as a “don’t wait for my call”… which, I haven’t & I won’t.

2. I don’t know why I keep chasing something that clearly is not in my cards to ever happen. I am just not supposed to be married. Period.

3. Usually every night at work I take a water pitcher for the night and write my name and date on it… My goal is to drink at least 2 pitchers of water/night (about 1 Liter)… Anyway, on Thursday night someone (I have not idea who) wrote “BIAN” after my name… I always call myself “Les”…. It was just an immature joke I’m sure… but at the same time… The whole gay issue has crossed my mind more than a time or two. I know I’m not gay, but what if I’m just fooling myself. Heck, even Jeremy the Jerk thought I was gay (quirky Jewish guy who is now married).

4. Eharmony account will be cancelled by August 6th. I can’t do it anymore… If I try to sign up again… please find someone to take my computer and credit cards away.

5. Work. Still like it. Day positions are coming available…but I’m not sure… I’m thinking about staying on nights until I find a position that I really, really want in a department that I really, really, really want to be in.

6. White Sox took 2 out of 3 from the Cubs AND ruined a no-hitter last night…. I say that was a good series.

7. Saw Billy Elliott on Saturday afternoon w/ my mom in Chicago. Sat in the front row… Fell asleep during 1/2 of it. Bummer.

8. Looks like next trip to Philly isn’t happening until March 2011. Again, during the Winter… UGH.

9. I bought a bike. And a helmet. Hoping it’s nice this Thursday… going to try and ride it.

That’s about it… nothing else to report.

Toots for now.
