My Memorial Monday..

May 25, 2009 · 2 Comments

So, I *thought* I would get a lot accomplished today… didn’t work out that way. I got up early-ish (6.45) to do laundry and to do some packing. I got ONE measly box finished. Then I thought it would be fun to go see a movie. I borrowed my friends’ two older kids and took us all out to see “Night at the Museum” at KOP Mall. The kids liked it… I fell asleep at the very beginning and towards the end. I thought it was fun… but just not much of a story there.

So, I’ve been home since a little after 5pm (it’s almost 8pm) now and I’m still cleaning out drawers in the kitchen. I want at least all the public areas to be clean for when my parents arrive in the morning. The bedroom is a wreck and pretty much will continue to be that way until I move out.

That’s about it for now.

Stupid High School Behavior (by me… of course).

May 24, 2009 · 6 Comments

So, it’s 1.09am Sunday morning. I can’t sleep. Part of it is that I’m still wired from working tonight. I got home from the ER around 11.45 (had to stop at Acme to get OJ & English Muffins for breakfast tomorrow) & then watched a little TV. I’m tired…but not sleepy tired…

I “defriended” someone on Facebook tonight again (this is the 2nd time). This is my “stupid high school behavior” for the evening. This was the guy that I went out with a few times when I was back in Chicago visiting. I went to HS with him. Long story short…he didn’t have the balls to actually CALL me to tell me that we were “incompatible”… he sent me an email. Besides being incompatible he said that Indianapolis is still too far for him (it’s 2 1/2 hours from him) for a relationship. Anyway, I looked at his profile tonight on Facebook (and, the weird thing… I’m not sure why I did it) and it said “in a relationship.” He sent me that email at the end of April.

Sorry Scott… I know you’re a good guy… but, men mostly are jerks.

It’s 1.17 now…. I really should go to bed. I think I’m going to try again.

Good night.

Too much food.

May 17, 2009 · 3 Comments

Tonight was dinner at the Melting Pot with my friend Otto (Scott, it wasn’t a date!). Way, way too much food. For the cheese fondue we chose the swiss cheeses… very good with the apples and bread slices. Then the salad.. then the meats…  finally the chocolate fondue. Fondue makes for a long meal. Our reservations were 6.45p & I think we got out of the restaurant about 9.45ish (it’s 10.51p now).

Two crazy things I did today:

1). After church I was talking to my friend Bill. Well, I have known Bill for 9 years. NINE YEARS… When I said goodbye to him today… guess what I called him? Not Bill! But Todd! I figured it out a 1/2 hour later. I don’t have his email to apologize so I need to find it somewhere. I feel horrible. I can’t believe I called him the wrong name. I think it was because I saw an old friend in Ohio named Todd (I was a bridesmaid in his wedding).

2). I walked into my bedroom tonight to type this and realized that my chair was missing. 9 years ago when I first moved here I bought a wicker chair from IKEA. Well, I’m not taking it to IN… so, I gave it to my friend Sue this afternoon. Totally forgot that I did that until about 3 minutes ago. I thought someone came in and took my 9 year old barely used IKEA chair.

*************************

I’m tired now.. I hope if I go to sleep I’ll be able to stay asleep until morning. It was strange being wide awake at 3am.

Ta-ta for now.

3am

May 17, 2009 · 2 Comments

Or.. to be exact: 3.10am on Sunday, May 17th. I can’t sleep. I’ve been up since 1.30 and I’m still totally, utterly wide awake. I just watched the season finale of “Bones” on hulu.com… I still need to watch “LOST”, but don’t think that will happen tonight because my brain isn’t up to the challenge to keep track of the time traveling.

I worked today at Paoli’s ER from 11a-7p.. after I clocked out I stayed with a patient for another 1/2 hour.. then I went to Trader Joes. So, by the time I got home and made dinner it was almost 9pm. The ER was a constant stream all day… the waiting room wasn’t slammed..but we were full all day… After dinner, I fell asleep on the couch around 10p and then went straight to bed. I was exhausted and my feet were throbbing because I walked so much today.

Tonight I’m going to Melting Pot in KOP for dinner. Which means I’m going to starve myself all day long because they give you so much food there. I’m excited to go since it’s my first fondue since Geja’s in Chicago about 15 years ago.

I wish I could just magically be transported to Indy… I hate packing and moving. I keep thinking of more things that I need to do… my list keeps getting longer.. not shorter. I’m moving with basically no furniture except my couch. All my other stuff is almost 16 years old and ready for the dumpster (I got it all when I started grad school in ‘93).

That’s about it for now…  I’m starting to yawn…maybe this is a good thing.

I hope my nine readers are all having a good sound sleep.

And… I have a mover!!

May 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Well, I’m the packer.. When I was driving back from Ohio I saw all these trucks with this “ABF” logo and a web address: upack.com. Well, curious creature that I am I went to the website and calculated an estimate for my move. Guess what: $745 door-to-door. It is extremely similar to the PODS system. They drop off their version which is called a “Relocube” and you fill it… they come back, pick up the cube, and drive it to your new location. This seems to be the easiest method I have found. My dad doesn’t have to drive out here… I don’t have to rent a sometimes unreliable rent a truck (which was $650 + gas)… etc.

Now to other things on my list… like calling my cell phone company for more minutes… wish me luck on that one!

After 500 miles, 3 pit stops, 2 Taco Bell Supremes…

May 13, 2009 · 2 Comments

I’m home. I didn’t leave Columus until 10.30 this morning… so, I hit more afternoon traffic then I would have liked. I’m thankful that I don’t have to get in the car for at least 16 hours… so, I’m going to cherish my time NOT in a moving vehicle because this coming month is going to be crazy with driving and packing and all that stuff that goes along with moving.

My time in Columbus was pretty productive. I got to see a lot of people I haven’t seen in years. Was able to go to the Columbus Zoo and see “Fluffy”, the $35,000 snake that the zoo bought a few years ago. It’s called “Fluffy” because it eats 10 pounds of rabbits a day (or something to that effect)… it’s huge: 24 feet long and really, really thick…. that being said… after the initial excitement it was pretty boring to look at because all it did was sleep. On the other hand, I could watch the bats all day long.. they were cool.

I also decided last minute that since I was so close to Indy I might as well drive over and find a place to live. My dad drove down from Chicago and we met at the first apartment I wanted to look at. Well, what I *THOUGHT* was going to be a chore.. turned out extremely well. I took the first place. It’s exactly what I want and need and I got a discount because I’m going to be a Clarian employee (Clarian is the health system I will be working for). If you really care.. you can go here*** to look at my new home. It is in the Castelton section of Indianapolis.. and it’s near a lot… a Macy’s, Trader Joes, Costco, and.. most importantly… White Castle!!!

Nothing else totally exciting to report. Graduation is 2 weeks away… Crazy.

Enjoy your Wednesday evening!

***If you choose to look at the website… the pictures look EXACTLY like the real thing. I was impressed that everything was as advertised. Very clean, very nice, etc…. I’m going to be on the 2nd floor.

Uh, no thank you.. no … really NO THANK YOU!

May 6, 2009 · 1 Comment

So… looking at how the whole move is going to work out…  I was just curious more than anything, because I had no clue how much they were going to cost. I called PODS to get a quote. If you don’t know.. PODS stands for Portable On Demand Storage. They also move people. They will drop off a container (aka “pod”) to your place… you fill it with your stuff.. they pick it up and drive it to the new destination. They wanted $1937.52 for one container and the move. The jerk on the phone kept pressuring me to give a down payment and to set a date. I said that I would need to think about it first… he then said “well, you know.. that those dates are very popular and they will be gobbled up fast”… I said that I knew that but I still wasn’t committing to anything. UGH. I know it is his job to sell..but I hate when they are pushy.

So, needless to say.. I’m NOT using PODS.. It’s a super cool concept..but way too expensive one for me.

Nothing else exciting to report… Just have my final psych exam that I’m sorta studying for…  Bleh.

Time to eat lunch now.

Rainy Monday.

May 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Nothing really exciting to report. I’ve spent all day in my pajamas. It seems I really don’t know what to do with myself when I have nothing planned at all. It feels so weird that I don’t have school anymore (except for one final exam on Thursday.. developmental psychology… not that big of a deal). I have to work tonight and leave in 30 minutes.. so, I better get dressed soon…

I did accomplish a few things today over the phone. Again, nothing overly exciting. Just stuff related to my NCLEX testing.

I swear I’m going to go blind by staring at my computer all day. I hate looking for a new place to live without seeing it in person. Indianapolis has a billion apartment complexes. And, really.. they all sound too good to be true. Condo prices are cheap..but I don’t want to get into a condo just yet because who knows if this job is going to work out. I have found a couple of places that look promising… and one that gives a rent discount to IUMC employees (but, it turned out that place was a dump.. looked nice on the outside).. I’m hoping that there are others that will give discounts to hospital employees.

That’s about it from here… I can’t believe it’s rained all. day. long. UGH.
