…when, at 11.30pm, you are driving home and see 5 police cars at the local Wendy’s… and then a helicopter with a spotlight that you only see in the movies roving overhead (actually, I hear the copter right now outside my bedroom window). They are definitely looking for someone. Totally is freaking me out right now. I’ve never been in the proximity of the spotlight of a search helicopter before…but it went right over me as I was driving down Baltimore Pike..it made my section of the street look like it was daytime.
Today was a lazy, lazy Saturday… I was sooo bored I actually cleaned my room. It’s about 3/4 of the way finished. I took the time to sort all the clothes on my floor (imagine clothes… LOTS of clothes…I actually had parted the fictional “red sea” to have a path leading to my bed). I have this nasty habit of throwing everything on the floor when I take it off or on the ironing board, or the chair, or the IV pole from when I was sick (it’s great when I actually ironed stuff… I could hang it on the IV pole). After that I changed my mind about the Christmas tree this year.. so, I went to Target and bought a nice looking 4 1/2 foot tree to put in my living room. I never mind putting up the tree…but I loathe taking it down. I figure this small one will be tons easier to put away come January & when I get a new place I can use the smaller tree in my bedroom. After that was finished, I went to Jamie & Suzy’s to watch “Hancock” (saw it before… I thought it was good).
Elizabeth: no date this week. He was in the Boston suburbs all week for the holiday visiting his family. I’m hoping that maybe we can go out again on Friday night (12/5)?. He said that he would call. But from my previous experiences, men never call me when they say they will call… if they call at all. No pessimism in that statement…just deep seated reality. So, to be perfectly clear: I hope he calls again & I hope we go out again.
Tomorrow I need to get my arse in gear… I haven’t really done any school work in over a week. I did a little bit on Friday morning but not enough to constitute “studying”.
That’s about it from my end of town… I really wish I knew what was going on outside… I feel like I’m in South Central LA instead of sleepy Media, PA. (ok… NOT South Central…but I was totally scared coming into my apartment tonight in the dark–lots of bushes & trees for convicts to hide).

So, I just got back from fighting the crowds at the local Acme. I also needed to go to Target..but thought better of it when I saw the traffic.
I’m spending Thanksgiving tomorrow with my friends Jamie & Sue in Havertown. I’m bring the cresent rolls & the dessert… I’m making chocolate raspberry cheesecake & also a pan of chocolate brownies just in case the kids don’t like the cheesecake.
Today I went with Jamie and Suzy to see their oldest child in his Thanksgiving production at school. He’s in 1st grade and was a *turkey* complete with the feathers made out of the Acme shopping bag. It was really cute and some of the kids were hilarious.
I think I’m still recovering from my hellish week (ie.. last week with all my exams)… I haven’t touched a book since Friday morning before my last Peds test. I definitely have some busy work and I have a micro exam when I get back next week..but it’s been nice to sleep late & to not study whatsoever.
Nothing else totally exciting to report… So, from my little piece of the Internet to your home wherever you might be have a Happy Thanksgiving! Even in these hard times we definitely have tons of things to be thankful for.
Bye for now.

I’m with some old workmates driving home from a baby shower (don’t worry…I’m not driving…I’m sitting in the front seat of a BMW).
There was an invitation for a 2nd date. There was no touching. I put my hand on his shoulder as I said goodbye. That was it.

See Scott… you get the title of my blog posting this morning.
I’ve been getting up at 4am most of this past week.. I haven’t been going to bed until almost 11pm or midnight…. so, I was EXTREMELY sleep deprived. I came home last night about 10pm… plopped on the couch and immediately fell asleep. Last night was the first night that I got to sleep for greater than 6 hours…I think I did almost 8 hours of sleep.
Here is your update: it was fun and it was awkward as I guess most first dates are. We met @ 6.30 and basically stayed and talked at the restaurant until almost 10pm. By that time, we were both almost totally exhausted from our weeks.. so, we said goodbye. There were no more slightly *off* comments during the night. I think at first he was shy because I was doing ALL the talking. Then, thankfully our food came… I had one beer (which, I don’t remember the name…but it was a REALLY good Mexican brand), he had two.
That’s about it.. Seriously, that was it. Now Scott… what did YOU do last night??????
ps… Yes, Ashlie… a 92% is amazing.. an “A”… I missed 4 on the test… I’m totally, utterly shocked… I started crying as I handed in my test because I thought I failed it.. I told the instructor that I was going to fail out of nursing school because of her class. My other classmate had a breakdown when she got home and called the instructor and was crying hysterically on the phone because she thought she did so bad.

I’m sitting here at Marathron Grill with classmates. We are just hanging out. We all had exams today.
Re: the date…I don’t want a boyfriend to just have a boyfriend. This man made a comment that didn’t sit well with me. He said (after he saw a picture of me) “you should be honored that I called you again, because if I didn’t like what I saw I would have said I was busy.”
The test was ok. I think I passed. By for now.

One more test… for the last 3 days I’ve gotten up at 4am and have gone to bed at 11pm… The test yesterday went really well… I overstudied for that..
Peds Test #2 is today at 8am…. Hopefully I’ll do better on this one….
After test, it’s out to breakfast w/ classmates… then a trip to Willow Grove Mall to meet a friend for lunch & to buy a baby shower present…
Today is the *date* with my clinical instructor’s friend from DuPont Hospital. We are going to a Mexican restaurant on 202. I’ll let you all know how it goes… Actually, not excited about it at all.

Well, one test down… two more to go. Today I had Pharmacology test #5. Tomorrow I have Microbiology Test #6 (or #7… I’ve lost count) and then on Friday I have Pediatrics Test #2. Pharm test was ok… I either got 100 or 90%… I think I screwed one question up… but I since I completely forget my answers the minute I get out of the test I can’t remember which answers I wrote down.
After micro lab today I was walking down Walnut Street and suddenly got an urge for the tortilla soup at El Vez (13th & Sansom). Well, it’s a Stephen Starr restaurant.. and I’ve been there a few times before and it’s always been the same… (forgive me if you are a server at a Stephen Starr restaurant) the servers are just plain rude. Maybe it’s *cool* to not say “Hello, my name is…… & I’m here to help you” at his restaurants. Maybe El Vez is just too hip for us not hip people to go there? Anyway, all I wanted was a Diet Coke & tortilla soup… not a big huge lunch… I felt like he was offended because I wasn’t going to order anything other than that. Plus he never introduced himself… Anyway, I countered his attitude with the exact opposite. I gave him a 50% tip. Regardless, it still befuddles me why they can’t be nice there… men & women alike (The hostess as extremely nice… but I have YET to have a nice server). I guess I could just never go back.. but their tortilla soup is one of the best around.. So, I guess it’s my own fault if I keep going back.
That’s it… Ta-ta for now.
***update @ 6pm: got my pharm grade… I failed. 70%. Ouch. 3 wrong.. totally don’t know how that happened.
