Today was a 4.30 wake up day. I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. It only mildly got better when I got to the hospital. Being on the floor was actually a lot of fun today. We were each assigned two patients which made the morning pass by v. quickly. My patients were pretty cool & easy going for the most part. It was fun talking to them. Happy to report.. no poo today… But again, just as a disclaimer.. if there WAS poo… I would dutifully clean it up. Like I said… I’m just happy to report… that there was none of it today. Maybe tomorrow… I’ll keep you all posted…but then again..
Now that I know people are reading this while eating their morning meal… I will think twice before mentioning the word “poo” again… Maybe I should give it a fancy codeword… hmmm.. maybe “cashews?”
Other boring stuff in no particular order:
1. Thanksgiving was good. My parents & I ventured to Bloomington, IN to be w/ my bro and his family.
2. Lost a game of tennis on the Wii to my 10 yr old niece. I must admit…. I have added Wii to my Christmas list.
3. Saw “Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” … not as fun as I thought it was going to be… but I sobbed anyways… there is a line in the movie that if you have ANY soul… will tug at you.
4. Bears won the game yesterday? How in the heck did that happen? Devin Hester is amazing. Sexy Rex… not so much.
5. AJ Feely… start him for the rest of the season. Speaking of Eagles football… I’m beginning to wonder if McNabb pushed to have Garcia shipped out of town. It’s my own little conspiracy theory… Garcia is doing great in Florida.
OK.. that’s all I got on this late Monday afternoon. I’m debating about going to a coffee house to study for my exam on Wednesday… it’s a big one… and there are too many distractions here…. like wasting an hour rearranging my Netflix queue. (oh… just saw “Reign on Me” or was it “Reign Over Me?” w/ Don Cheadle & Adam Sandler… pretty decent movie.)
One more thing…. Pray for me re: Wednesday’s exam. It’s Anatomy & Physiology. I got an A on the first one…but this has 2x the material on it… I’m scared. Big time.

Just got back from Trader Joes. One of their many sweet offerings was chocolate covered soy beans.
Really?

Oh. My. Gosh. This was hands down… the BEST concert I have ever attended. Better than U2 in the Wachovia Center, better than Charlie Peacock in the little church in Ohio, better than Poi Dog Pondering at Lounge Ax in Chicago. The CD is good. Live is better. WAY BETTER. I can’t believe how much better they are live than on CD…
Glen Hansard is simply amazing. The raw emotion he has & how he transforms that in music..
I wish I knew how to articulate more clearly what happened last night at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington DC.
If this man is EVER performing near you…. please see him… you will not be disappointed. Not at all.
That’s about it from here… I’m in the middle of cleaning my place, packing, and waiting for a 4.30pm taxi ride to the airport.
Bye for now.

Just got back from the train…. I had two exams today back to back… Pharm & Intro to Nursing. I’m not sure what to think of either of them.
I do not have to be back at school until 11/26… but my time off is going to be anything but relaxing. I have my portion of a group project that I’ll be doing tomorrow at school and I have a few HUGE exams when I get back… I’ll be on a jet plane on Monday memorizing a billion and one things for Anatomy and Physiology.
I so don’t know if I can handle this stress of school. I almost threw up again after my pharm exam. Not fun.
The one fun thing I’m doing during my break is that I’m going to Wash, DC on Sunday evening to see a person in concert that I’ve been wanting to see since like forever (ok… only May..but whatever). Glen Hansard of The Frames, The Swell Season, and the movie “Once” (again… SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) is playing at the Lincoln Theatre. I’m spending the night in an ultra swanky DC hotel (read: Red Roof Inn) and I’m hoping to see my favorite cardiologist on Monday morning in Fairfax, VA before driving back to Philly and hopping a plane to Chicago for the week.
Ok.. that’s about it. I’m going to go take a nap and listen to some Jack Johnson songs.
And… Scott (whoever you are)… you win the award today… You made me laugh. It’s a tought thing to do after exams. I’m sure the ShopRite Rice Krispie Squares are just as evil as the Trader Joe ones… and they’re probably cheaper. Hmmmm… speaking of rice crispy goodness… I think I’ll go eat some right now.
Enjoy yourselves folks.
Bye for now.

I have a paper to finish writing. I’m almost there… but the last part is proving more difficult than normally first thought. I have until Thursday morning at 8am. Which means, I really have until tomorrow morning (11/7) at 8am. So, it might be a long night for me… and I got up at 4.30am today.
Ok… so as promised… randomness:
1. Just got off the phone with my friend asking about doing something on Saturday evening. I said “hey… I’m getting Knocked Up tomorrow… do you want to watch?” OK… NOT THE BEST THING TO SAY… Netflix is sending me the movie “Knocked Up” tomorrow… and I was asking if him and his wife wanted to watch on Saturday evening. My brain is turning to mush….
2. Ok… remember the paper I need to finish. Well, I needed to interview an advanced practice nurse for paper. I took handwritten notes during the interview. I have a nasty habit of placing half drinken (remember…brain to mush.. can’t remember if “half drinken” is proper English… I’m thinking not) glasses of water on the floor next to my couch and then forgetting about them…invariably, I knock them over…I do this ALL THE TIME (you would think that I would have learned my lesson by now… I haven’t). I did it 20 minutes ago… all over my only copy of handwritten notes from my interview. The paper is drying out on my countertop right now. I hope it survives.
3. Aaron Rowand won a Golden Glove today. But he’s with the wrong team. That’s all I’m saying. Sox not too smart trading him away (no offense to Jim Thome).
4. Gave my first IM injections today. Flu shots. V. fun. Not boring at all. :O)
5. I lost an online Scrabble game…. again. I’m soooo addicted.
6. Ate French Toast sticks at the cafeteria this morning. V. good.
7. Managed to keep my white uniform clean all day. Yesterday… not so much.
Ok.. that’s about it for now. Ta-ta.

So, I had all of today off. A free day. No hospital, no school, nothing. So, what did I do with my day so far???? NOTHING. OK… well, not totally nothing..but not what I was supposed to be doing. I have a paper to write that is due next Thursday. It’s in my head…but that doesn’t do me any good because I haven’t put it down on paper yet.
So… what did your fair author do today?
1. She slept late. Well… until 6.30am. Which is late when I normally wake up at 4.30-5am depending on the day.
2. She watched the Today show. I wonder if deep down Katie Couric wishes she would have stayed.
3. She ate breakfast. OJ & frosted mini-wheats. Not together. I’m not a big fan of milk in my cereal. I eat it dry.
4. She took another nap.
5. She washed dishes.
6. She wrote a letter to a friend in Denver.
7. She went to HomeGoods and bought a new loaf pan.
8. She went to a Jewish deli and ordered a reuben sandwich to go.
9. She came home and ate that sandwich and pickle. It was v.v.v good.
10. Sad to say, the above mentioned reuben sandwich made your favorite blogger a little sick.
11. She watched some TV. I really do feel sorry for people who have to stay home all day. There is only so much Jerry Springer one can stomach (actually, I didn’t watch Jerry Springer… it was some soap opera…. oh.. I did watch The Price is Right… it was weird seeing Drew Carey hosting).
12. She took another nap (hey… I’m still getting over my cold… give me a break!).
That’s about it. I am staying in tonight and I am going to study… probably not start on the paper yet… I’m a better writer with a deadline….
Ta-ta folks. Enjoy your weekend.
