And another one for good measure…

It’s nice reading the Chicago papers today and reading about 88 yr old men crying because of the White Sox win. If Red Sox can do it… why not the White?

Back to work

I just ended my first day back to work since my vacation. Thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as I originally thought it would be. Actually, I was quite dreading coming back to the office.

In other news:
1. Ahhh… my wonderful White Sox. I wish they would just hurry up and win this thing… It’s getting a little too stressful… I guess that’s what makes October so wonderful.
2. I hardly EVER comment on Sunday sermons here… but yesterday’s was pretty good. I knew everything he was saying in theory… but putting it into practice… that’s another thing. So… I started yesterday w/ someone I haven’t talked to in quite a long time. It was scary.. yet nice.

Time to go board a train.

Good night.

Because I can…

This picture is from The British Museum. It was taken by some Russian tourists. This is a great room… I loved how the sunlight bounced off the building walls.. The glass dome is amazing. I actually found the museum itself a bit boring (so… sue me). I’m just not that interested in mummies and pieces of rock… no matter how old they are…

On to other news…
1. There is nothing else to say about the White Sox. They are losing more than they are winning. Will they win their division…yea… but by a game.. and then lose in the first round of the play offs.
2. Hurricane Rita. So…. Fox News was interviewing a woman from Galvaston, TX. She said she wasn’t going to leave despite the evacuation order… Her reason… “well, I just don’t think it will hit us that hard.” Yea, that’s what they said in New Orleans.

Gotta run… meeting a friend in the city.

Back from London!!!

So… I have returned from my whirlwind trip abroad. I definitely don’t recommend this for the faint of heart. It was awesome in a rushed type of way. When I landed at Heathrow I hit the ground running and didn’t really stop until yesterday when I boarded my plane for Chicago. London is amazing. Just amazing. I can’t wait to go again.

So… brief synopsis.

1. Museums visited: The British Museum, The National Gallery, The Tate Modern, The Victoria & Albert
2. Museums I actually liked: The Tate Modern, Victoria & Albert
3. Number of British Chocolate Bars consumed: too many to count
4. Money spent on British Chocolate Bars: about $100 US
5. Indian Dinners consumed: two
6. Purchases at Harrods: 3
7. Postcards sent: 20 (please don’t feel offended if you didn’t get one… I cut my list from 40).
8. Number of pick ups: 2 (1st one: some drifty US guy living in London… asked me out for a drink. 2nd one: riding the train back from Greenwich… this guy, as dapper as he was, was a little on the elderly side… around 69ish… he kissed me on the forehead as he left the train).
9. Number of times walking in circles: 4

Ok… there were some minor things I didn’t like about Britain:
1. TV… BBC is not where it’s at. Yea, it is mostly intelligent TV… but no “Lost” or “ER”… V. sad
2. Room temperature soda… no ice. UGH.
3. Street signage… yes, I’m all for keeping the charms of London… but come on… give us a little direction.

All in all a lovely time. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Is it Friday yet???????

Tomorrow can’t come soon enough. It’s been such a hectic week… Tonight it gets worse… I’m bringing work home… plus I have to pack and watch a Netflix movie (yea… I know that’s not a bad thing… but it’s a good two hours) so I can mail it back tomorrow.

Nothing too exciting to report….except what the whole baseball community already knows… the White Sox are going to blow it next week. The Indians are going to come into town…sweep the White Sox and win the American League Central. Well, that’s the White Sox… best record for most of the darn season… just to lose it all in the very end.

Tomorrow evening… off to London!

Cheerio!

Not your typical bank…

Here’s a shout out to Citizen’s Bank. As I arrived at Market East station today, Citizen’s Bank employees were volunteering by asking for donations for the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. If you donated $1 you got green Mardi Gras beads. I left with my beads & feeling happy that doing good does wonders for all parties involved.

Citizen’s Bank just might get a new customer out of this.

Enjoy your Friday.
