Sick…

I didn’t know that mucus comes in so many different colors.

Enjoy that thought while I hack away.

I hate being sick.

DUST, DUST AT EVERY TURN….

So, I just got back from lunch…. major dust bowl outside today. I was sitting on my favorite bench in Washington Square while reading about the pending nuptials of the Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner when the wind just kicked up. I feel like I’m covered in dust. BLEH!!!!!

Nothing else too exciting to report…

But, yes, tis true… the Chicago White Sox won again.. it’s 8 in a row now. And, yes, I understand that this streak will have to come to an end…. maybe it will tonight..who knows… I just know that this is the best start in the history of the White Sox organization… and I’m enjoying the ride all the way.

Bye for now.

The Hospital…

Tonight I’m working at the hospital. So far, nothing out of the ordinary.. which is a good thing. I had an interesting conversation with a man who is 97 (at different times in the conversation he said he was 94,95,& 96..but I checked his chart…he was born in late 1907). Very interesting fella. Lived in Philadelphia all of his life.. participated in WWII.. told me a story of when he shot someone during some famous battle in France during the war.

Right now I am waiting for my pizza from Top Tomato. I real…

Oops…food just arrived… more later.

5.20pm and I’m still alive…

Today has been a hellish day all around. Presentations, file reviews, student calls… just very, very busy. I have a splitting headache. Actually, my whole head hurts. Thankfully, I am leaving in about 8 minutes (early enough to catch the next train..but late enough to not have to sit around Market East).

The one really nice thing about today is my friend’s CD. I’ve been listening to it all week long (minus yesterday when I wasn’t at my desk). I love it. LOVE IT. I’m v. happy for him because the songs are amazing. The lyrics are definitely water for this thirsty soul.. which I often get during the day here at work.

In other news:

1. What’s with Scott still being on American Idol? Shouldn’t he have been voted off like 3 episodes ago?
2. I really need to go see a movie. It’s been too long (2/20/05 to be exact).
3. Chicago White Sox… one of the best records in baseball: 11-4. One can hope that they will continue to be this good.

Have a good night. I’m outta here.

A day in the life of…

So, just about 20 minutes ago I needed to call a student to verify something in their file. Well, I was asking the student about their family size and how many were in college. Long story short, one of her family members has a terminal illness. She said it so casually….because I’m sure it’s a given.

It just made me sad.

Tales from the Sidewalk…

So…..I had this grand plan this past weekend… to go to Washington, D.C. to visit my friend Jan… We planned on biking around the tidal basin to see the Cherry Blossoms. Perfect plan for a perfect day. So… we get up on Saturday morning… she gets her extra bike all ready for me. We go out on the sidewalk… I get on the bike which was looking a little unstable. I try to ride the thing… and 10 seconds later… I crash into a brick fence 3 houses down from her apartment. I try it again… this time, I go to the left and crash right into Jan. That ends my big bike dream.

Thankfully, this is good. I haven’t been on a bike since the Spring of 1999 (with my friend Matt Gordon). I had a dream on Friday night that I would die on Saturday in a bike related fatality. I can’t even imagine thinking about biking through the Washington, D.C. traffic.

…So, we walked and walked and walked and walked and walked. I think we probably walked 15 miles that day. It was beautiful out. The cherry blossoms were amazing. Very nice day.

Other news worth reporting:

1. CWS are 4-2 (leading their division & have a better record than the NYY!!)
2. My gallbladder needs to be removed. Not too surprised about this… but still it is surgery.
3. Another Monday. God, I hope it goes by fast.

Bye for now.
